MARCH 2025

ALWAYS PLAN AHEAD

As the days get longer and the temperatures start to rise, it’s time to start thinking about the summer maintenance for your Kegel lane machine.

March and April are the perfect time to decide what will be done to keep your machine in the best possible condition. The slower months of the summer are ideal to schedule time for much needed upkeep. No matter if it is a small upgrade, a tune-up or a major rebuild, check your league and tournament schedule and plan accordingly. Some work may require additional adjustments to your machine, and therefore, extra time. Upgrades can heighten the capabilities of your machine. Some upgrades might take less than an hour, while others are more involved and will require several hours. Plan the upgrade so it doesn’t interfere with scheduled lane maintenance.

Tune-up kits are a great way to keep your lane machine in optimum operational condition. The kit will contain the parts that most likely need to be replaced. These kits can take several hours to install, and some customers might want to split the labor across two days. A major rebuild is the most time consuming of all the projects that can be done to your machine. Rebuilds are usually done by a qualified Kegel technician. Depending on the amount of work needed, a rebuild could take two days. Schedule an appropriate timeframe so your center will not need the machine during at the same time it is being rebuilt.

Allow time for the necessary parts to arrive and double check that they are the correct items before starting any project on your lane machine. There are numerous models of Kegel machines, and not all parts are interchangeable.

If a lane machine project is being done with in-house labor, read and understand all the instructions that come with the rebuild kits prior to starting. Kegel also has a wide variety of videos on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@KegelBowling

This is also a great time to accomplish annual items located on the lane machine maintenance schedule chart if you have one. If you do not have one in your facility, you can order one (Part # 158-5350) from an authorized Kegel distributor or a downloadable version can be found on our website: https://www.kegel.net/ under the Support tab.

Take some time now to schedule work on your Kegel lane machine at the end of the 2025 season so it will be in top notch condition for the up and coming fall and winter league season. It won’t be long before the days grow shorter and there will be a chill in the air. A great running machine can ease your mind and allow you to spend your time pondering other projects in your bowling center.
